The 2020 Ford Ranger

The 2020 Ford Ranger

Ford Ranger returned to the market in 2019 after having been discontinued after the 2011 model year in the United States. The 2020 model is similar to the 2019 model but there are more off-road and sports aspects to the newer model. The Ranger was a compact pickup for years and the latest version is more in the mid-sized range. The Ranger sells in different versions around the world and is known as a very tough and reliable vehicle. Even with the eight-year hiatus, there are still a lot of Rangers on the road today. The new version still offers the toughness of a Ford truck and has all the latest technology you have come to expect in modern vehicles.

New for 2020 will be an FX2 off-road package that adds $600 to the total price. It is an off-road version of the rear-wheel-drive ranger. It has a locking differential, special suspension and tires ready for off-road action. Extra protection under the vehicle is also there. The instrument cluster also offers information on things like Yaw, Pitch, and Roll as you drive. The package is very similar to the FX4 four-wheel-drive package that was released in late 2019. The off-road package is available on all trims, which include the XL, XLT, and Lariat. Off-road or not, all Rangers are powered by a 2.3 liter Ecoboost turbo four-cylinder that cranks out 270 horsepower and 310 foot-pounds of torque. All models have a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Due to the success of the 2019 model, there wasn't much need for a redesign. However, Ford has added some tweaks for 2020 like standard autonomous emergency braking on all models. The Ranger can haul 1,860 pounds and can tow 7,500 pounds with an optional tow package. The Ranger is tough but there is plenty to appeal to the driver who wants a nice vehicle for all kinds of uses. It has an 8-inch touchscreen that runs the Sync 3 infotainment center. That can be integrated with your phone. There is also an LCD display on the instrument panel that makes usage even easier. You may also add Ford-Alexa personal assistant, and there is a hotspot available. A navigation package is standard at the top of the line and optional at lower levels.

Standard on the Ranger is a rearview camera, forward collision warning, and automatic emergency braking. You may also set audio volume and speed limits for secondary drivers. Optional equipment includes front and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assistance, lane departure warning, and driver attention monitoring. Adaptive cruise control is also an available option. The Insurance industry rated the Ranger's front crash prevention system as Superior. Rear crash prevention was rated Good, as it was in every other category.

The ranger starts at $25,000 for the base XL, and goes up to about $34,000 fully loaded and including the off-road package. The Ranger is rated at 19 MPG in city driving and up to 26 on the highway. While there are only three trim packages, there are still a lot of options. You may get a standard cab up to an extended cap that can carry four or five people. Rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive is available on all models. There are several appearance packages, like Chrome, black, and sports, available as options. An enhanced bed utility package is also an option.
