Under the hood, the 2020 Kia Telluride offers a powerful 3.8-liter V6 engine. Generating 291 horsepower, this engine promises remarkable acceleration and significant towing power. It is estimated that the Telluride can tow up to 5,000 pounds. Included is an eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. However, all-wheel drive will be available along with various drive modes including Smart, Eco, Comfort and Sport modes. These selectable drive modes determine just how much power goes to the front or rear wheel, depending on the performance you are looking for. Of course, if efficiency is your main goal, you'll probably spend most of your time in Eco mode.
In terms of features, the Telluride offers quite a lot with its base LX trim but higher-level trims offer some significant upgrades. The LX trim comes with three rows of seating for up to eight passengers. Seats feature synthetic leather upholstery, but genuine leather and heated and ventilated seats are featured in the higher-level EX trim. Also standard in the LX is an 8-inch touchscreen, and USB charge ports in all three rows, while the EX offers a 10-inch touchscreen. Standard safety features with the base LX trim include rear-cross traffic and forward collision avoidance, blind spot monitoring and smart cruise control. Optional safety features offered include lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, and highway driving assist.
The top-of-the-line model, the SX limits the seating capacity to only seven passengers but offers plenty of great extras to make up for it. With the SX, you'll get LED headlights, dual sunroofs, a premium audio system, a 360-degree view camera, and a digital instrument cluster. If you really want luxury with your new Telluride, you'll have the option to purchase a Prestige package that comes with premium Nappa leather, a heads-up display, a heated steering wheel, and climate-controlled captain's chairs. But these are just a few of the features available with this awesome top-tier trim.
The 2020 Kia Telluride starts at just $31,690. The next trim level starts at $35,035, which offers a few seat upgrades and captain's chairs in place of bench seats in the second row. The SX starts at $42,535 but when fully-loaded, could cost you around $46,935. Voted the "Best in Show" at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show, many drivers are eager to get behind the wheel. Kia is expected to release the 2020 Kia Telluride this spring. Check it out at your local Kia dealer later this year for a test drive and remember to bring the whole family along; they'll love it!
